Suggest Treatment For Coccydynia
Question: I am a 59 year old male who is generally in good health. I do take Losartan 50mg for hypertension, but that is my only standing prescription right now. I experienced a pulmonary edema at the start of 2016 and was treated at the Palm Beach Gardens medical center. The treatment was a steroid for the lung to repair and 6 months of Xarelto 20mg. I stopped taking Xarelto in XXXXXXX 2016 on the "blood doctor"'s advice. Since August 2016 I've started to develop a tenderness in my rear end when i sit down in certain positions. I had a colonoscopy (3 polyps but nothing terrible) in early October and asked the doctor about the discomfort I'm experiencing. He said it was not related to anything gastrointestinal related. I then consulted my PCP and he sent me for lumbar and pelvic xrays that showed nothing abnormal. He recommended I see a chiropractor. The chiropractor examined the xrays and said he could see no evidence of "pinched nerves" (disc compression). Two treatments from him did nothing to improve the situation. The condition seems to be getting worse over time even though I have now been standing at my desk for work in an attempt to relieve/recover any inflammation. It really bothers me at night, depending on my sleeping position. Best is to sleep flat on my back. When I apply external pressure to my spine as far down as I can reach (without impaling myself) I can feel sensitivity, but only in that one spot. When I tense and squeeze my glutes together I feel mild pain and a stiffness as if there is some swelling there, although I cannot see of feel any swelling when exploring the area by hand. I feel more intense discomfort/pain when I sit down in a completely upright or slightly forward leaning position. It is much reduced when i recline, which is how I sit in my car and on aircraft seats now. I visited my PCP this last Friday to report the chiropractors findings and also asked if he thought an anti-inflammatory will help me on a 16 hour flight to Bangkok this Monday (12/5/16). He prescribed a 21 tablet dose of Cadista MehtylPREDNISolone and Naproxen 500mg to be taken twice daily. My question is: Does it appear that my PCP is on top of the situation and that i should just exercise patience, or would you recommend that I seek a second opinion - and if so, from what type of specialist? I will mention that my father was diagnosed with myeloma in his lower legs from around age 73, but what I'm experiencing feels kind of mechanical, so I don't think it is necessarily relevant.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for posting your query on HCM.
Well having gone through your complaints I feel that you are having coccydynia . I would request you to read about it and get back to me if your symptoms match . If not please tell me then I will think of other things . Also please tell the exact location of pain . Is it your tail bone or both hips ? Because location will decide the disease and hence further management .
