Suggest Treatment For Cold And Cough In Pregnancy
Question: Hello Doctor,
I am 27 weeks pregnant and suffering from bad cold and cough since last 10 days. I visited my gynecologist on 27th January and since I had cold, cough and slight fever as well, she recommended me to take Neksium 40 (once a day for 10 days); Vozet 5 mg (twice a day for 3 days); Cherrikof syrup,DOLO 650 twice a day for 3 days). On 30th January she asked me to stop the medications and only continue with Kanteelh and steam inhalations and water gargling. I am somehow not very comfortable with water gargling. But I am taking chewing kantheel and vicks/halls etc.
Apart from this I am also taking calcium, iron and folic acid tablets (Shelcal 500, Zsofteron and Folvite 5mg)
But my cough is still quite bad with some cold. So today doctor has recommended AZEE 500 - 2 tables daily for 5 days. I am just concerned if taking Azee 500 twice a day will have any impact on the baby's development. Also my continuous coughing - can it have any adverse effects on the baby.

Brief Answer:
correct treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, you are taking right set of medicines.
Take azee as advised and keep taking cough syrup and gargles as before.
Azee is safe in pregnancy for both mother and child.
Excessive coughing for a long time has not much effect on the baby per se but it can exhaust the mother and thus can cause chronic fatigue so risk of preterm labor pains.
Avoid cold beverages and fried and spicy foodstuffs till you have cough.
All the best.
