Suggest Treatment For Cold And Cough While On Nasivion
I have twins (girls) and they are 2.5 yrs old. Both have been having viral fever for some days and it has come down now. One of them now has severe cold and cough. The cough has been there now for over two weeks and its getting worse. The doctor had prescribed Chericof 3 ml twice daily for cough and Nasivion 0.025 paediatric drops on & off frm yesterday for nose block. This is not helping at all, the cough seems to be persistent and with blocked nose its getting harder for my daughter to breath and increases the coughing. The doctor also prescribed Sinarest- AF 2ml twice for cold( but we gave for a day only did not continue it).
Can you please advice?
Thanks.

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. Most often such symptoms are due to viral infections and antibiotics are ineffective in such cases. Irrespective of treatment it usually spontaneously resolves in 5-7 days. Some children are more prone to catching cold and recurrent episodes are seen. I would insist you to get a complete blood count done and to upload the report. Based on that I will guide you further. Based on the report a chest X ray might need to be done.
You need to give steam inhalation to your child. It helps in reducing the congestion. Just sit with your child on your lap and place the source of steam before you. The water vapor will be in the air and automatically the child will breathe it in. Water vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting the cough and thus would provide relief. Use Nasoclear Saline Nasal Drops in case of nose block.
I will await your response.
