Suggest Treatment For Cold, Cough And Excess Mucus In The Throat
Question: I have a severe cough and cold. lots of mucous . been taking Mucinex and Cold Snap. started as a sore throat on Dec 16th. Terrible flu on the 17th. stayed in bed all day. went out the next day and felt fine. Cold and cough the next day and since. Doctors office is closed today. what can I do to get rid of this sickness?

I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.
It seems like you are taking enough medicines to keep this cough and mucus under control and it is not working.
What I would suggest is to switch it to another one which may work a bit better. Usually I recommend my patients Acetylcisteine 600mg once/day. You may find them in packets or syrup and if you want split the 600 mg throughout the day.
Also, teas with honey have been proven helpful for the cough. Lots of fluids and vit C too.
It is very important that you have your lungs checked. One reason why you are not getting better even though you should have, may be because your Flu has been complicated with a pneumonia and you might need a prescription with antibiotics to start getting better. So only a visit to the local doctor and an X-ray after will tell for sure if you need this treatment.
