Brief Answer:
It takes a week or two sometimes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Nothing to worry. Viral fever takes a week or sometimes two weeks to recover. It depends on the resistance of the individual as well as organism. I have seen many cases and nothing to worry you will be OK.
Even after subsiding of infection the cough continue in some individuals as it takes time for your respiratory mucosa to recover.
I recommend the following for you.
1) Plenty of liquids and fruit juices to prevent dehydration. Orange juice will boost
your immunity and helps in faster recovery.
2) There could be secondary bacterial infection so I recommend a course of antibiotic amoxicillin with clavulinic acid 625 mg two times a day after food for 5 days. This is a prescription drug.
3) For fever take tab paracetamol when ever required with at least 6 hour interval .
4) For cough you can take expectorant syrup.

You will be fine. Wish you a speedy recovery.
If you have any further questions I am happy to help you.
