Sensitive Teeth. Have Used Sensodyne, Rx Toothpaste And Teeth Trays For Fluoride/potassium Nitrate. No Relief. Relief Measures?

Nothing works for sensitive teeth. Been to two ntdentists. Have used sensodyne, Rx toothpaste, had mouthguard made for clinching, then teeth trays for fluoride/potassium nitrate treatmes. Nothing has helped. Have never had teeth problems until last cleaning over a year ago. Finally changed dentist and tried gluma and in office fluoride treatment still cannot drink anything above room temperature or eat anything cold. 51 year old post menopausal female

Hello and welcome.

After reading your complete history it appears that you require clinical evaluation. you can approach Endodontist (dentist dealing with root canal treatment) in this regard.Every single tooth should be thoroughly examined for the origin of pain.

Then, if required root canal treatment should be started for the concerned teeth.

you also require intraoral radiographs in this regard.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Take care.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

Sensitivity of teeth is associated with;
-faulty toothbrushing habit.
-mechanical wearing due to bruxism(clenching of teeth).
-periodontal pockets.
-vigorous use of mechanical abrasives.

SCALING has to be done primarily to remove debris.
The exposed tooth portion has to be restored with tooth coloured restorative material.

I would suggest you to brush your teeth twice daily with a soft bristle toothbrush.
Avoid vigorous toothbrushing.
Take lukewarm saline nad antiseptic mouthwash rinses.

Hope you find this as helpful,

Regards.

Hello,

I have gone through your concern.

You are suffering from generalized tooth sensitivity.

You need to follow some guidelines for better relief.

1. Long term use of desensitizing toothpaste like Vantej or Aclaim is anticipated.

2. Use lukewarm water for mouth rinsing after brushing.

3. In acute condition you can take control release painkiller like Tab Zerodol CR once daily.

4. Use night guard regularly.

5. Keep patience, as sensitivity usually takes longer time to get resolved.

6. More damaged teeth might require cement filling.

Hope this serves your purpose.

Take care.
