Suggest Treatment For Cold, Runny Nose And Sneezing In A Child

Today the cold is gone but in her vomit we can see mucus coming out. But no fever and she seems to be normal. She generally vomit little bit after taking food or when she wake up from the sleep. She is exclusively on breast feeding and we started giving here Ragi from last couple of weeks.
Kindly advise whether we have to give her any medicine or take here to the doctor for the further checkup or is it fine to leave this condition as it is.
Steam inhalation would be greatly beneficial.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. Most often such symptoms are due to viral infections. Irrespective of treatment it usually spontaneously resolves in 5-7 days. Such infections are usually associated with an allergic component and you can give some antiallergic like cetirizine. Runny nose and sneezing are allergic manifestations. It is good that you are continuing breast feeding exclusively. No other medicine needs to be given.
If your child is otherwise active and playful, I would not be concerned. You need to give steam inhalation to your child. It helps in diluting the mucus that is causing gagging and thereby vomiting. You can just sit with your child on your lap and place the source of steam before you. The water vapor will be in the air and automatically the child will breathe it in. Water vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting the cough and thus would provide relief.
Please be patient. It may take a few more days before full recovery occurs.
Let me know if I could help further.
