default
Posted on Mon, 13 Oct 2014
Question: My wife is taking vasograin and other medicines from last year since she has migraine. Doc says its complex migraine. Her headache is always there now including attack regularly. She has gone through VEP ANGIOGRAPHY and all kinds of MRI's. VEP was normal though in MRI's and CMRI there were white spots at few places. Doc says its just complex migraine.
Please advise. Her Bp goes up and down and heartbeat is always faster than normal .

Brief Answer:
consult a psychiatrist also

Detailed Answer:
hi. XXXXXXX .thanks for writing..

i feel that the doctor you are visiting must be a neurologist. he has given the medications used to treat the attacks of migraine..and others to prevent further attacks..ciplar is used as a prophylaxis to prevent migraine..

if I would be her treating doctor, I would give her amitriptyline in low dosage, which is very effective in preventing migraine attacks..

VEP is used to confirm the diagnose of migraine.. visual stimuli are given which can cause changes in brain and precipitate attacks..

apart from neurologist you shud also visit a psychiatrist, because though it is migraine it is sometimes associated with tension type headache because patient is under constant stress..

she shud receive ciplar and amitriptyline both for prophylaxis..

the fluctuation in hearbeat and blood pressure are the signs of anxiety and stress..

i feel this will be helpful to you..if you have further query feel free to ask..
