default
Posted on Tue, 24 Feb 2015
Question: I am taking Triavil for my nervous stomach. I am taking Promethazine12. Mg. for Nausea and Dexilant 60Mg. twice for acid refluz. I am having some success but still get nauseaus after I eat and there are still a lot of foods that I can not eat ie: vegetables, apples and spicy foods. Any suggestions would help and I get a lot of gas pains, both upper and lower. I am taking Gas-X Ultra for the gas but it does not always help.

Brief Answer:
Possible malabsorption, digestive enzymes to be added...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation you are in.

1. As I was going through your medical history, I noted that no details were reported regarding your cholecyst or pancreas. Can you please provide any report of the tests you did (including abdominal ultrasound and/or liver/pancreas function tests?)

2. Your symptoms are indicative for malabsorption. If I was your caring doctor would advise to add pancreatic enzymes in small doses to ease your digestive issues.

3. If you cannot tolerate spicy foods, that is a symptom for stomach hyperacidity (due to gastritis or acid reflux).
You are also taking Dexilant which is a PPIs and will improve your hyperacidity symptoms.
4. Apart medications, it is also important to follow a healthy diet and lifestyle regimen:
- eat often and small portions
- chew up slowly
- avoid spicy/chilly/fatty foods or any other that can aggravate your symptoms
- sleep with raised head
- avoid laying down immediately after eating
- taking probiotics can also help

All the best!
