Suggest Treatment For Constipation And Anal Fissures
This is a hard question to express because of its nature. When I go to the toilet to defecate, I sometimes or often at times - pass a fairly normal stool of type 4 or 5 - more or less. However, this is sometimes or often accompanied by a size 6 stool on the Bristol stool chart at the same sitting when defecating. And to be precise, I normally pass a type 4 or 5: which are then proceeded by a wait of a couple of minutes and/or perhaps another two minutes or so - in which the last parts of the stool come out; which results in one or two or three - type 6 stool pieces. And so this process takes a lot of time and annoyance and tissue wiping and sometimes extra straining.
I do suffer from constipation and piles (internally) from time to time and have had anal fissures in the past.
However, my question is - is this normal bowel behaviour given the conditions of past history or is it a sign of a obstruction?
Thanks

Extra straining could cause recurrent fissure and piles.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking here.
Since intestinal wall itself is made up of layers of mucosa and muscles, in between them tiny vessels are buried for their blood supply. Now when ever their is smooth defecation needing no strain that shows that there is enough peristaltic movement of bowl to expel out stool from the anus.
You have history of fissures and piles, which commonly happens because of constipation (poor peristaltic movement of bowl) and recurrent straining for defecation. Straining cause pressure on intestinal wall, contributing to tear of wall (fissure) or piles (distention of veins in intestinal wall).
So waiting and straining for second, third stool could be because of less and lack of fine movement of bowl. If there was any obstruction, there would be no passing of stool at all.
Taking fibre in form of raw vegetables, fruits, salads, plenty of water and daily exercise helps in good bowel movement thus preventing from poor peristalsis, straining, fissures and piles.
Hope I answered your question.
Please let me know,if I need to clarify you more .
So should I take it then that it is due to constipation or what I have described is defined within the definition of constipation?
You say this '...could be because of less and lack of fine movement of bowl'. So what could be an alternative reason or cause for what I described?
Thanks,
XXXX
It may result in contipation.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Dear I would have doubted about alternative cause if stool would have been associated with bleeding or pain in stomach or no stool at all.As there is no such history from your side as of now. So poor perstalsis may cause straining. And it is one of the causes of constipation. From your history, it seems that it may contribute to on and off to constipation. That is why increasing fibre (in form of raw vegetables, fruits papaya, banana, mangoes, guava etc) in diet, exercise, plenty of water helps in smooth defecation and thus the constipation.
Wish you best of health.
