Suggest Treatment For Constipation And Pressure In Lower Abdomen

About a month and a half ago, had pressure in lower abdomen , thought it was constipation so I took some laxatives which cleaned me out but pressure was still there.
Pressure got bad enough and landed me in the ER .
There , they did a pelvic exam, std tests , urine tests, pelvic ultrasound and a trans-vaginal ultrasound, and a Cbc and basic panel. Found absolutely nothing . Had about 2 weeks of extreme nausea, diarrhea and fatigue. Lost 15 pounds. Pressure still there. Not pain , just pressure and fullness. Took probiotics and helped me become regular in my BM again and nausea went away.
I now just continue to suffer with this lower abdominal pressure , fullness, discomfort. Sometimes it feels like I am 6 months pregnant . It seems to get worse if I eat certain foods . The pressure does relieve when I lay down thought. But it never fully goes away.
Saw a GI , said my symptoms are vague and not alarming . Scheduled for a colonoscopy , but does anyone have any other ideas ??
Follow the advise stringently, not missing any point.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history related to Omeprazole not helping, all the investigations done are within normal limits, GI says may be post-infectious IBS.
Your symptoms are:
Pressure in lower abdomen - one and half month back - remains in spite of laxatives - 2 weeks of extreme nausea, diarrhea and fatigue - lost 5 pounds - probiotics helped to regulate BM and nausea went away - now lower abdominal pressure, fullness, discomfort - sometimes feels like 6 months pregnant - worst with certain foods - scheduled for colonoscopy ....
My thoughts and advise:
- Go for stool tests for 3 consecutive days.
- Make a list of the foods and beverages and other factors that might have been increasing your stress and/or anxiety and avoid them altogether. This is a part of the management.
- Sometimes feeling like 6 months pregnancy is suggestive of a condition called Psuedocyesis, just a variation of wishes and wants and goes through sub-conscious mind, consult a Gynecologist for counselling.
- Wait for Colonoscopy report.
- Discuss sbout Contrast enhanced CT scan of the abdomen with your GI and if he orders, go for it. This is to rule out certain diseases.
- If all the reports of stool and colonoscopy including others are normal get treatment on the lines of IBS.
- Continue probiotics.
- Take multivitamins as deficiencies do occur with such symptoms.
I hope this answer helps you, please follow the guidelines and you will be fine.
