Suggest Treatment For Constipation Due To Linzess
Question: I am taking 290 mcg of Linzess a day for constipation caused by psychiatric drugs. The problem is when I have a bm its runny and watery but. This has been going on for several weaks, but I only have one bm a day thats it. I am afraid the diarrhea is depleting my body of nutrients and electrolytes. Is this possible? When will the diarrhea go away? I know the Linzess causes diarrhea as a side effect.

As you have stated, diarrhea is a side effect of the Linzess. If you are only having one bowel movement a day and it is very loose, that is probably okay and as long as you are taking a multivitamin and drinking plenty of water it should not cause any problems.
In some people the side effect does go away after several months but in other it is permanent.
It is better to have you stool be very loose than to be constipated.
The type of diarrhea that depletes electrolytes and tends to make you dehydrated is diarrhea that is ongoing and multiple times every day.
