Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Most often cough and cold is caused due to certain viral infections. Influenza virus is one such virus that causes such infections. There are various strains of this virus and H1N1 is just one of them. Previously this strain used to cause flu or cough and cold in pigs and hence was called swine flu, but now it also affects humans. In each flu season, the affecting strain differs. This year, the flu was predominantly caused due to H1N1. Although the flu season is practically over, this virus would always be there. But let me ascertain that it is just another virus causing common cold and the rate of complications is not significantly higher than that of common cold. So, I do not think that you have any reason to panic.
The vaccine he has received, would take around 21 days to become active. That period is not yet over (assuming that the date is for the current year) and before that, his risk is just equal to that of anyone around. The immunity is valid for one year and hence if the vaccine was given in the previous year, the immunity is on the decline.
