Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Since you were smoker and having coughing with hemoptysis (blood in sputum) ,following are the possible causes.
1. Chronic bronchitis
2. Lung infection
3. Cancer.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Chest x ray
2. CT thorax.
3. PFT (pulmonary function test)
4. Sputum examination to rule out infection.
Chest x ray and CT thorax are needed to rule out Infection and cancer.
PFT is needed to rule out bronchitis.

I have had the cough for four continuous months, day & night. I was also exposed to asbestos. I worked for Pollock Paper company from 1964-1985. I understand that Pollock is one of the major companies that are being looked at for asbestos exposure.

Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question.
You are also having occupational exposure with asbestosis.
So this can also lead to occupational lung disease along with smoking.
