Question: They just upped my 92 y/o mothers ( she has dementia ) depakote from 125 mg. BID to 500 mg. BID, is this a safe dosage for her? She weights about 140 lbs and is 5' 2" tall. YYYY@YYYY

The maximum dose of depakote daily is 60mg/kg. This means your mom can received as much as 3800mg per day and would still be safe. 500mg is a lot safe.
