Brief Answer:
By bringing happiness in the lives of others.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic!

The question you have raised "How do I get happy" is a very pertinent one and troubles almost all of us at some point in our lives. Happiness is a state of mind and requires an appreciation of all the good that there is in one's life. In simple words, one cannot be happy while one is recounting all the problems one has to face. For you to be happy, the best thing you can do would be to list out all that good things in your life and express your gratitude for the same. Secondly, try to appreciate the beauty around you, whether in nature or in people and again be thankful for that. Look for goodness in people who you interact with and do what you can to help others. Lastly, smile and watch how others respond. Giving happiness to others is the surest way of adding happiness to one's own life.

Do not criticize yourself for being needy or dependent on others. It is good that you have such a clear understanding of your own behavior, but there is no need to judge yourself. There is nothing wrong about wanting hugs and cuddles. If you feel that you should change yourself, then do make an effort. But that doesn't mean that what you are at present is wrong or inferior or unacceptable. Accept yourself as what you are. As you grow older, you will anyhow change. So let time do its work and enjoy what life has to offer.

I understand that if your depression has not yet resolved, these things may be difficult for you. However depression can be treated and usually responds very well. You are on citalopram 20 mg which can easily be hiked further. Please discuss with your doctor regarding this.

I hope this helps you. Please feel free to ask in case you need any clarifications.

Best wishes.
