Question: My 20 years old daughter is having significant anxiety problems in the last three weeks of school to the point she is crying a lot, can't concentrate during test (excellent student so is not typical), feels like shes failing even though she is not. Would it be safe for her to try Tranquilene (supplement) to see if it would help. She is currently taking Generess (birth control) , Hyoscyamime (stomach), Allegra and Asmanex for seasonal allergies.

Brief Answer:
She has depression, need antidepressant

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic. I, Dr Abhishek Kapoor, would you help in this query.

I think, she is in depression. Depression is a state of low mood in which patients feel anxious, hopelessness, worried, helpless, loss of appetite, worthless, irritable, crying spells, problem in concentration, remembering details, or making decisions or restless. In that case, she needs antidepressant that would help to control these symptoms. You can give her supplement and that could help her slightly, but better treatment is antidepressant.

In her case, depression may be due to stress or generess. Better to consult a psychiatrist for proper diagnosis and management.

In case, you have any more query, you can ask.
