Suggest Treatment For Deranged Bowel Functions

Not a question really, but I might explain that my stool is very messy. I have 3 or 4 per day, and I have to jump right into the shower afterward because it is very hard to do a good clean up with baby wipes or a wash cloth. Obviously, I have to if not at home--but I have had my share of urinary tract infections due to inadequate clean ups--so you understand my problem (I hope).
Needs a little modifications and consult

Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Age related biliary functions decline and bowel functions disturbance is a very common complaints.
A procedure 4 years old with sumps closure automatically is not significant here except for the fact that it has contributed to the deranged bowel functions as bile is a main ingredient in solubilizing fats and dairy products. Small frequent meals and less dairy products like a lactose free diets are the good replacement solutions for these complaints. Fiber diet is best to get the bowel functions working.
i will say i am impressed with age 80 you have maintained the functions by good care.
Messy stools and jumping into the shower , i would consider it as a symptom of fecal incontinence of inability to control the bowel movements. As i mentioned diet and lifestyle changes are very helpful here. However you may need to consult a gastroenterologist if the fecal incontinence is severe and uncontrollable. A few labs and tests would be needed like anal manometry to sort out the sphincters status.
Recurrent UTIs are also very common and these bowel habits have a role there too. Also shorter urethra in female, old age and associated bowel symptoms are responsible for recurrence. Good toilet habits and hygiene and plenty of fluids intake and garlic and cranberry juices intake will help the issue.
Nutshell, clean ups and maintenance of bowel habits will fix many of your issues. And to rule out any incontinence you need to seek a gastroenterologist to sort it out.
I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
Take care
