Brief Answer:
Lactose intolerance carries good outcome in adults
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir
I can certainly understand your concern.
Adults usually have secondary onset type of Lactose intolerance .
This can be due to recent infections of bowel or gastritis.
This condition responds well to dietary restriction of certain milk containing products.
Prehydrolyzed milk (LACTAID) is available and is effective.
Yogurt and fermented products, such as cheeses, are better tolerated than regular milk. Soy-based milk or food products are well tolerated.
Note the following dietary considerations in patients.
Patients should read labels on commercial products.
Most patients who are lactose intolerant can ingest as much as 240 ml of milk without an exacerbation of their symptoms.
Whole milk and chocolate milk may be better tolerated than skim milk.
Certain medications and foods contain hidden lactose, such as breads, margarine, salad dressings, and candies.
Probiotic supplements(like ONE DAILY SUPPORT) can help to largely minimise symptoms of Lactose Intolerance .
Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these probiotics to you.
Post your further queries if any.
