Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Fever In Children
Give plenty of water, antispasmodic like dicyclomine may be needed
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I m sorry for delayed reply
Thanks for the query
The main aim of management in diarrhea is to maintain proper hydration by giving plenty of fluids(ORS).
The Fepanil contains acetaminophen and is used for controlling the temperature.
Racigyl SB is an antisecratory agent(to decrease the volume of water in stool). It also contains probiotic(bacteria to maintain the normal gut flora, which are usually lost during diarrhea).
Ofcor Plus contains combination of antibiotic(Ofloxacin and ornidazole). The dose of acetaminophen is 10-15 mg/kg/dose three to four times a day.The prescribed dose is 2.5 ml(63 mg <10 mg/kg).Similarly the dose of ofloxacin is 10-15 mg/kg/day.The syrup usually contains 50 mg/5ml. So this is also less. Please get it corrected by your physician.
All these medications are given to control the diarrhea.
It may take 5-7 days to get the bowel pattern regular.
The pain during passage of stool is common in diarrhea and occurs due to spasm of intestine.Antispasmodic agent like dicyclomine helps in relieving the pain.It is a prescription medication, please get it prescribed by your physician.
Apart from these Zinc syrup should also be given as it helps in normalisation of damaged internal intestinal layer and thus helps in early recovery.
But the main aim of management is to prevent dehydration by giving plenty of fluids(mainly ORS).
I would like to continue the prescribed medication along with dicyclomine syrup (for pain) and zinc syrup.
In feeding advice I would like to avoid the milk(if milk is not predominant feed) sweet juices/carbonated drink as there is transient lactose intolerance and the recovery may delayed.
I would suggest you to observe for the urinary frequency,irritabilty/lethargy,decreased oral acceptance, vomiting and if you notice any of these consult your physician.
I HAVE NOTICED ONE REMARKABLE THING THAT THE WEIGHT IS 7.5 KGS AT 7.5 YEARS.IS THIS A MISTAKE(IS IT 7.5 MNTH)?KINDLY CLARIFY.
I shall be glad to answer if you have any further query.
Wish your baby early recovery.
Regards
