Brief Answer:
Gastroenterology consultation might be necessary

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

Thanks for writing in.

You could try taking a loperamide 2mg tablet if the diarrhoea is persistent.

Make sure you drink enough fluids like Oral rehydration solution, Tender coconut water etc. to prevent dehydration due to diarrhoea.

Take an antacid like Omeprazole or pantoprazole once daily half an hour before breakfast for 2 days.

Take some probiotics like lactobacilli, to help maintain the normal flora of the gut.

Take bland food like rice and yoghurt, bread toast , apple etc.

In spite of all the above measures , if symptoms persist or worsen beyond 2 days, please visit the gastroenterologist, who may do a couple of blood tests, stool test, gastroscopy/ colonoscopy in view of the sudden onset of symptoms.

Wishing you a speedy recovery,

Warm Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
