Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Lack Of Appetite While On Nexium

Please follow....
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:
1. I need more medical information like :
- terrible taste in your mouth has started before or after flagel use?
- please can you upload colonoscopy and endoscopy report so I can check them by myself.
- How long do you have diarrhea? It is an acute or chronic situation ?
2. It's true that your symptoms like diarrhea, no appetite ,heartburn may be related with stomach flu or acute gastrointestinal infection, especially if your symptoms are less than 3 weeks.
So it makes sense to start cyprofloxacine and probiotics.
On the other hand you have used Nexium for a long time and it may cause bacterial imbalance in your gut that cause diarrhea. This is why I suggest to start both Cipro and probiotics.
3. With regards to GERD ,I recommend to:
- use antacids like Gaviscon
- use two pillows when you lay down
- avoid coffee, tea, chocolate
- eat often and small amount of meal
- eat 3-4 hour before go to bed
Meantime I suggest to do:
- breath test for H.Pylori infection
- culture stool test
- stool test for C. difficile
Please discuss the exams mentioned above with your internist.
Hope it was helpful to you

Detailed Answer:
Hi back
Thank you for giving me more of your medical data.
After reviewing all your history and medical data I can say as follows:
1. You are reporting that all of these started after consuming fried shrimp, fried onion rings. It is commune to have GI issues, bacterial gut misbalance, bowel infection( especially C. Difficile) after using fried seafood.
2. Another important finding is that you have diverticulosis. Your symptoms may be related too with a mild diverticulitis after a bowel infection.
3. This is why I agree with your internist to start Ciprofloxacin, Flagyl and probiotics.
Because It seems that all your symptoms are related with an infection caused after fried foods.
Hope It will help you.
