Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea With Stomach Cramps

Question: Hello,
My husband has been having diarrhea for 4 days with some cramping. He has an appetite and is drinking fluids too. he has been taking 1 immodium per day which has marginally helped with symptoms. no fever.

See immodium just helps in control of loose stools transiently only.
Infact if the diarrhea is infective immodium should not be used.
Provide me following details:
1. How many loose stools a day he is having?
2. Since when is he having?
3. Any vomitings?
4. Any blood in stool?
5. Is cramping very severe?

having 2-3 loose stool episodes per day since last Thurs( Sept 11). no vomiting, no blood. cramping is mild. as I mentioned earlier, he is taking 1 immodium perday which is marginally helping to control diarrhea. appetite is good.

Dear Friend.
I would advise you to stop immodium.
Don't give it further. It seems to be infective diarrhea.
I advise following in such situation:
1. To give a combination antibiotic like Oflox-OZ twice a day for 3 days.
2. To give a combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone once a day for 3 days.
3. To take lot of liquid and soft, bland diet.
4. To take curd in diet.
Once started on these medicines, improvement is evident within a day but course should be completed for 3 days.
