Question: The other day i blew my nose because of sinus congestion and drainage. when i did, my ears stopped up and i cant seem to get them unstopped. Could you please tell me the best way to unstop them? I have used peroxide and it did not work. It is mucus buildup.

Brief Answer:
East aching Tube Dysfunction.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. The blockage of the ears is due to Eustachian Tube Dysfunction secondary yo the cold and sinusitis.

2. Either air is trapped in the middle ear or mucus has been forced up the ET into y hd middle ear while forcefully blowing the nose.

3. Peroxide won't help as the problem is behind the eardrum and not in the external ear canal.

4. Try steam inhalation and OTC 0.1% Xylometazoline XXXXXXX drops or spray. If this does not work, get the eardrums examined and an Impedance Audiometry done.

5. Upload the results here for further treatment advice.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
