Hi Doctor,My 2month old son had colds a few days back and now its totally gone. Since gooey discharges in the ear are commonly caused by colds (and other illnesses), i wanna know if i need to be alarmed with the gooey ear discharge i saw in his left ear? at first i saw some crusty substance (for 2days) in his ear just outside his ear canal and in the inner part of his ear flap or pinna, and late yesterday i started to see some liquid or more of a gooey substance in that same ear canal, it does look like a thick mucous and its yellowish in color, beneath it is a creamy liquid substance that smells. Could it be from the colds he catched few days back? or Could have water gone in his ears while i bathed him and caused it? i bathe him every day and call me crazy but im the kind of mum who always check on my baby and i definitely make sure he is clean all the time. this gooey substance in his ear comes out frequently, i couldnt leave his ear unattended in half an hour and its there again. Please help coz Im not sure if it does hurt him coz my baby is normally a bit fussy, i cant tell which is which that causes his fuzziness.Thank you!- dee
