- difficulty walking has increased in the last year, but inflammation of the hip area that I have noticed, and increase pain, has only been in the last week-10 days.
- "recent" trauma - 6 day hospital stay 12/2013. After both my parents died in March 2012 and March 2013, I was isolated and turned to a died of mostly alcohol. By 12/2013 I was pretty much house-bound and just drinking. I fell few times in my home, and was living on only 18-22 $$/day of bourbon, little food. Maintenance man called ambulance. I was told I had depleted all vitamins and minerals from my bloodstream. Came here to live with daughter for 9 months following, regaining balance. Thought I was getting better until this.
- I only take bp med Lisinopril (sp?)
- no change in skin condition, only the inflammation.
- no real joint pain.
I am thinking of calling my doc Thursday and going to see him as soon as Friday, as sleep is now getting harder and I'm worried. Good idea??? Thanks.

Hello
Thank you for getting back with the answers. I have gone through them. Your symptoms needs further evaluation to rule out inflammatory joint disease & nerve injuries. I would suggest you to visit hospital and get an appointment for a Rheumatologist. He is specialized in joint diseases. He will examine you in detail and may order some labs including MRI hip joint & ultrasound to check the status of ligaments& soft tissue. If he clears you out then you need an opinion from a neurologist because in cases of gluteal (hip) muscle weakness, weakness occurs which ultimately results in difficulty in walking. Meanwhile following measures may help:
- Naproxen thrice a day for 4 days
- multivitamin supplement (like vit b complex) once a day for 3-4 weeks.
- Take a balanced & nutritious diet rich in protein, iron and vitamin A. Good sources include legume, lentils, green leafy vegetables, fruits and milk.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
