Suggest Treatment For Displaced Vertebrae
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: My doctor called me today and informed me I have a front slippage of the vertebral L5-S1 area. He is going to refer me to a orthopedic surgeon. Does this mean I need to have spine surgery? What is a typical course of action? I have no pain. The xray was ordered because of some back pain I have been experiencing from yard work. He believes this might be a incidental find. Also, he has perscribed me indomethacin. Is that just like Aleve?
Brief Answer:
Take steps as advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
You should upload xray image.
Possibility of listhesis of spine is there according to your narration. The displacement of vertebrae anteriorly or posteriorly leads to unstable spine.
The requirement of surgery depends upon grade of listhesis. Further imaging like CT or MRI of spine may be required.
Visit and consult a neurosurgeon or orthopaedic surgeon dealing spine surgery.
Avoid stooping forward, lifting heavy objects.
Indomethacin is also a pain killer as aleve and can be taken as advised.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Do get back to me for further queries.
