Question: My wife shows signs of acute frontal sinusitis. Dizzy, bump on forehead in between the eyebrow. She didn't had an injury. She frequently let our dog lick her nose. Went to our general doctor and she has to take a ct scan. But the hospital only has space next tuesday (in four days). Is it necessary to call other hospitals because of urgency and make an appointment for today?

Brief Answer:
Yes it is an emergency

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Since your wife already has a swelling on the forehead and is feeling dizzy, you must not weight till Tuesday and try to contact other hospitals for an emergency CT scan

Swelling on the forehead is a sign that the infection is spreading to the bone and is an emergency. Patients in such condition need immediate drainage of the pus along with intravenous antibiotics.

For the time being please ask her to take steam 2-3 times a day and use nasal decongestant drops like oxymetazoline 2 drops in each nostril 3-4 times a day.

Please do not delay and try to get the ct scan soon, so that the treatment can be started.

Take care
