Suggest Treatment For Dizziness And Exhaustion

Question: Why am I sometimes dizzy and/or exhausted?

I had my normal -month checkup with my doctor. Everything was in normal range. He did not seem concerned about these symptoms, namely dizziness and fatigue. I am otherwise the picture of good health. I walk two miles at least 5 times a week and eat a very balanced and healthy diet. Wine only with dinner. No other alcohol.

Brief Answer:
In 90% cases occasional dizziness is not serious.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Occasional dizziness can be due to variety of reasons like 1) sudden hypotension means while getting up suddenly from sitting posture,2) anemia 3)anxiety, 4) low water intake means dehydration, 5) too much physical work, 6)ear infection.

See, in 90% cases occasional dizziness is not serious at all and no definite cause can be found out.
You said you are otherwise healthy then I think you don't have to be worry about your dizziness and exhaustion, yes if you can describe your problem in more details then a doctor can comment on it.

Ref. item 3 above, (anxiety), my 93-yr-old husband is in very poor health and I am his sole caregiver. I am busy all day with his care, two dogs, financial work (no financial problems) like managing investments, sorting out and paying hospital and doctor bills (for him). I always say I can handle stress well. Maybe I can't.

I do not think any of the other causes are relevant. What do you think?

Brief Answer:
Too much physical work

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
As i said earlier 90% occasional dizziness cases are not serious and also they get subsided by itself by the time.
Now in your case it may due to too much physical work as you are doing a lot of work like to take care of your ill husband, two dogs, managing investment, financial matters, paying doctor, hospitals bills...this really too much as I don't know your age but the thing is even a young man would get fainted or exhausted by this kind of work.

Its not that you cannot handle stress well. See,anyone would have at least some problem when they come under stress because we are not super humans. See if you can simplify your daily tasks a bit.

If you are otherwise healthy then I don't think you should go under more and more investigations and just adding only costs and resulting in no diagnosis at all.

So believe me, if you can manage your workload accordingly then by the time you will be alright.
Don't worry
Have a nice day

No questions. You said you don't know my age. I am 80.

Also, I was struck by a car and knocked to the pavement while walking on XXXXXXX 7. Strictly the driver's fault, and his insurance co. accepts liability. Most of the time I have pain in my arm and wrist. Typing this causes a lot of pain in my wrist and I have to have hired help to do things like changing the sheets on the beds.

I guess I just have to tough it out but I am glad that I am otherwise healthy.

Brief Answer:
Post-traumatic vertigo

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
This is post-traumatic vertigo because of knocked down by a sudden struck by a car.
After a hit ,our brain hemisphere shakes inside brain cavity without any structural injury known as cerebral concussion leading to nausea or vomiting and dizziness.

The other causes like benign paroxysmal positional verigo(BPPV) or utrical displacement inside inner ear or labyrinthine which is responsible for balance of the body.

You will need some blood tests with audiogram, electrocochleography or CT or MRI of inner ear in order to have a correct cause.you can consult ENT specialist for further investigations.

If you said this earlier, then it will become easy for me to suggest what to do further. This is all what i can help you online and for rest of the things you will have to go further.
Treatment will be depedant upon the underlying cause.
Regards,

Dr.Sandip Kabra

Thank you for your analysis. I did not mention my injury previously because I did not connect it to my symptoms. I will follow up on your suggestions.

Brief Answer:
complete history is vital.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
I think I have completed your query in my previous answer. It's important to tell all the recent history to the doctor which gives necessary clues to diagnose.

In many cases, this type of dizziness usually subsides within 1-2 months without any treatment but in your case I would suggest to go to respective doctor as I said earlier and get diagnosed.

You will be alright after that.

Have a nice day
