Suggest Treatment For Dizziness And Profuse Sweating
Question: Hi, I was feeling fine this morning; ate breakfast and drank a whole 16oz bottle of water before I came into work. I am all of a sudden sweating profusely, very pale and can hardly stand without getting extremely dizzy. I am also shaking and feel like I'm going to throw up. I am on a couple medications: Escitalopram 10 mg(for anxiety/depression), Nitrofurantoin Mono 100mg (antibiotics for UTI), and HCI Phenazopyridine 95 mg (for symptoms of UTI). I have taken the nitrofurantoin and the phenazopyridine this morning (I take the escitalopram at night).

I can understand your concern. You are on Escitalopram for anxiety and depression and are also taking Nitrofurantoin and Phenazopyridine. Nitrofurantoin is a safe antibiotic and you have taken the drugs in morning. You have taken breakfast and took plenty of water so the chances that the symptoms occurred due to Nitrofurantoin or Phenazopyridine are rare, but these might have aggravated anxiety.
The symptoms like sudden onset sweating, feeling pale, difficulty in standing, dizziness, shakiness etc occurred most likely due to severe anxiety attack or panic attack more specifically.
You are already on Escitalopram which is a good drug for anxiety and depression but for acute attacks like you had today morning other drugs like low dose benzodiazepines can be used. Low dose Clonazepam or Alprazolam can help to control acute exacerbations and can be used on SOS basis. Continue to take the drugs as your prescription and if you have such symptoms again then talk to your doctor and ask for prescription of the drug I've mentioned.
