Information

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXX,

Your symptoms don't sound like Shy-Drager Syndrome (aka Multiple System Atrophy).

In the majority of people with this syndrome, the first symptom is something called "akinetic-rigid syndrome" which is where there is difficulty starting a movement, similar to Parkinson's disease. In fact it can be confused with Parkinson's disease. Another common symptom people present with is cerebellar ataxia - which causes problems with dizziness (not the same as dizziness with standing). In addition, many have urinary problems. I see that you listed urinary hesitation, but before assuming it is something unusual, have your prostate checked for enlargement, as this is a more common cause of urinary hesitancy in older men.

Your orthostatic blood pressure problem is not explained, and that could be related to Shy Drager, but it doesn't have to be related to that. I would expect, if you had MSA (Shy Drager) you would be having more balance and movement problems.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
