Brief Answer:
Try all the below-mentioned remedies.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Assuming that she has no
fever and no other problems, as you have so kindly indicated in your question, and also assuming that she is not a smoker, is not an elderly person and has no allergies, may I suggest -
a) give her a course of a syrup that contains
Dextromethorphan as one of the ingredients. The usual dose would be 5-10 ml two to three times a day depending on her weight and individual response. Some examples include Actifed DM, Dextrakof, etc.
b) Ask her to sip small quantities of plain, non-iced water frequently, but especially when she feels that the
cough is coming on
c) Give her a mix of ground turmeric stick powder (1 tsp) in a glass of warm water daily at bed-time
d)Try taking inhalations of steam with a steamer device or directly from a hot pot under a blanket
e) Avoid eating foods that hurt the throat such as spicy or very hot foods.
f) Avoid exposing her to cigarette side-smoke, pollutants, etc.
g) If you do not see a response in the next 2-3 days, take her to her physician.
Hope this helps.
With best wishes,
Dr. Taher
