Suggest Treatment For Dry, Chapped And Pigmented Lips
Question: Around Mothers Day I was prescribed Bactria and had a full blown allergic reaction to it. During that time with the fevers it caused but lips became dark and dry-as if there were another layer of thick skin covering them. It took weeks to clear up, although my lips have not returned to their original color. (My daughter says I look like I have smokers' lips.). About 2-3 weeks ago the symptoms came back. I have only suffered from chapped lips two or three times at most in my life (I'm 47), and cannot get rid of this. I've tried tea tree oil, carmex. What can this be, and what should I do?

These are the photos you requested. I hope you are able to see the dry patches on my lips. It's the dark areas. Around the perimeter of my lips are dry and they feel scaley but not discolored.

Hello, Madam.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through your uploaded images.
The cause of dry, chapped and pigmented lips can be multifactorial.
Even minor disturbances in food, water, excess caffeine, cosmetics and antibiotics will cause such changes. These can be reversed with simple home remedies as follows.
1.Take a toothbrush and apply petroleum jelly instead of toothpaste on it. Gently scrub your lips with the toothbrush. This helps you to get rid of dry and chapped lips and also lip discoloration if any. Do this at least once a week, to exfoliate any dirt, impurities you may have accumulated over the week.
2.Slice a beetroot, apply it on your lips like you would apply petroleum jelly. Leave it overnight for nutrient absorption.
3.Ice Cubes work as natural hydrators for your lips. Take a clean thin cloth, put an ice cube in it and massage it over your lips.
4.Take a clean bowl, add some almond oil and squeeze lemon in it. Mix it well. Massage this paste on your lips, even every day is good.
5.Yogurt contains acid that work wonders naturally on dark spots and pigmentation. Apply yogurt using your index finger and massage your lips every day.
