Question: My frend has taken Bactrim DS for a week for mastoiditis ands enveloped a severe rash and fever 24 hrs ago. Her MD is not available this weekend. I am a retired MD and have an active license would it be appropriate for me to order a medrol dosepak until she can be seen by her primary care doc after the Fourth of July?

I am so sorry to hear about thus rash that your friend has developed. This is probably a delayed hypersensitivity reaction to Bactrim. It makes sense to get him on medrol as well as stopping this medication. It is totally okay with an active license to call this prescription in.
