Question : Sickness started two weeks ago with tightness in the chest followed by coughing and loose congestion. At this point I have a dry cough, sore throat and tiredness.
Brief Answer:
Antibiotic seems necessary.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Do you smoke? Have you had fever?
Most probable reason of your symptoms is bronchi infection (bacterial or viral). Especially if you have had fever along with other symptoms.
As it lasts for 2 weeks now, antibiotic seems necessary to cure it completely (Cefuroxime). If you smoke, or you have been coughing frequently before it has started, asthma should be considered. If so, spirometry (blow test) should be done by a pulmunologist.
I suggest you also to have chest x-ray (if you smoke, CT would be much more accurate).
Hope this helps.
Regards.
