Suggest Treatment For Dryness And Rashes All Over Lips

Question: Yesterday my lips felt dry. This morning I woke up with swollen lips and a red rash all around the lips with very small blisters. The last time I had a fever blister/cold sore was 25 years ago. I did not have any usual tingling sensation prior anything popping out on my lips like I had with previous fever blisters--they just felt dry so I kept putting on lip balm. They still feel dry and I had some Denavir so I've been slathering that on my lips. Is this herpes simplex with a different presentation? Will the Denavir help or do I need to get a prescription for Zovarix? Will the swelling go down any faster? If I didn't have the swelling, I would just look like I had chapped lips unless someone looks really close. I just got my flu shot 5 days ago and I have been under a lot of stress lately, but I've been under worse stress than this and nothing popped out.

From the description you have provided,it looks like you have developed herpes labialis.

Owing to the amount of swelling you have and also since you are most probably developing a primary episode ,you might need to take oral antivirals.

So my advise would be that you should see a nearby doctor for prescription soon.
