Hello and welcome to HCM
The most common cause of black/red eye is trauma and black color appears due to collection of blood in the soft tissue around the eye.
So, try to memorize any instance of trauma to the face or head region.
Causes of black are as follows:
1. A blow to the nose often causes both eyes to swell because the swelling from the
nasal injury causes fluid to collect in the loose tissues of the eyelids.
2. Surgical procedures to the face, such as a facelift, jaw surgery, or
nose surgery, can cause black eyes
3. A certain type of
head injury, called a
basilar skull fracture, causes both eyes to swell and blacken.
There are some other conditions which just cause sweeling of eyes without causing blackening. These are
allergic reaction, cellulities, angioedema and dental infections.
Visit your doctor and get a CT head and face done to know the black eye.
