Suggest Treatment For Ear Pain
Some possible diagnoses and suggestions
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.
Your pain may be related with a possible infection of the ear, which may be a middle ear infection or an external ear infection. In both cases you will need to treat the pain then the infection. To be able to treat the pain I would suggest that you take Ibuprofen 400mg 3 times/day as needed. You will need an ear examination so the doctor can decide if there is an ear infection which either way may need antibiotic drops or tablets.
If you start having vision problems, you will need to go immediately at the ER. It may be a temporal arteritis, which is an inflammation of the walls of the temporal artery, which may lead to permanent vision loss. So as soon as it is diagnosed (by clinical symptoms or with a biopsy before the symptoms start) you will need to start a treatment with oral steroids.
Continue to use the nasal spray and the decongestant if they are helpful, and if you have nose congestion. They haven't proven to be very helpful though.
Drink plenty of fluids.
If worse or not better, I would recommend seeing a local doctor.
Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.

It can be from teeth grinding- TMJ inflammation.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the follow up question.
It can be that pain is because of the you grinding your teeth. In the case the tender point you described should be above the temporo-mandibular joint, not over the temporal area.
Yes, continue using the Ibuprofen. Put some ice over the tender area. Avoid eating strong foods and stretching opening your mouth wide.
If the vision gets worse drastically (in glaucoma it should change very very gradually) then go to the ER as I suggested.
I hope this makes sense and helps to reassure you.
Kind regards,
Dr. Papaqako.
