Suggest Treatment For Eczema On Legs
I have dry eczema in both my legs for a long time. Occasionally it comes and persists for some time and leaves. I used to put Elovera moisturising cream.
This time I had such itching and scratched one of the places and it became an wound. I did not care for it initially. I could see that the wound expanded from its initial size. After it enlarged, I have started to put Fuziwal ointment on it. I could see some scaly like white covering comes on the wound many times and it went off while I take bath. The wound still looks like XXXXXXX skin and it does not look like a open wound. It does not discharge and I could not see any pus. When I press gently on it I do not feel any pain like a wound. Still I have some level of itching over and around the wound(like the one we have usually when a wound starts to heal)
It has been more than 2 months and still the actual colored skin is not formed on the wound. I checked my sugar level this week and both the fasting and random results are within the limits as given by the lab.
For the last couple of days I have been little bit weak since I hadn't took my meals correctly. Today, I feel very tired and have body aches. I am worried if there could be internal infection and why the wound is not getting covered with normal skin. Please advise any other ointment to try.

Kindly upload Image; a topical steroid would work better for your problem
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have read your query in detail and I have understood your concern.
You seem to have developed an ecematous dermatitis. These features which you describe i.e redness, dry, scaling and itching are commonly seen in a chronic eczematous skin problem.
I would prefer if you can upload an image of the skin problem. You may upload an Image of the affected area at "Repots Section" Or mail me an image at the following email ID: YYYY@YYYY with the subject line of this mail as 'Attention:Dr.Kakkar'.
You are doing the right thing by applying a moisturiser, and I suggest you to continue with it. Use it twice daily. However instead of using fusiwal (2%fusidic acid) which is a topical antibacterial I would suggest you to use a topical potent steroid cream e.g clobeatsol propionate 0.05% or mometasone furoate 0.1% cream, twice daily, over the affected sites, after using the moisturiser.
You may also take a tablet of cetrizine once daily in evening for symptomatic relief from itching.

Thanks for you advice. I have sent an email with the image with the subject as you have mentioned. Hope that will help you better idea.
I would try to get the ointments you have prescribed and follow. I hope these would be available in Tamilnadu. Also please let me know how many days(approx) should I need to follow these to get it cured.
Thanks,
xxxxx
