Suggest Treatment For Elevated ALT And AST Levels
In my latest blood test i found that there is
HDL-32
LDL-157
AST-86
ALT-117
i am 27 & having BMI of 33, weight is 96kg, doctor informed me that AST & ALT increase is just because of BMI & high Chlestrol, once you bring down the weight & maintain healthy diet AST & ALT will be back to normal.
Please reply.
Thanks
Increased ALT and AST may be due to altered lipid profile in your case.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Increased ALT and AST may indicate liver injury and it may be due to many causes like hepatitis, altered lipid profile, metabolic disorder etc. It may be due to altered lipid profile in your case.
You may need few more investigations like routine hemogram, random blood sugar, urine RE/ME, viral markers, ultrasound of abdomen.
I suggest to take tablet ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg twice daily for three months. It helps in regeneration of liver cells.
You may also need statins like atorvastatin 10 mg.One tablet to be taken at night. It will control raised lipid level in blood.
You should avoid alcohol if you take it.
You are rightly advised for weight control, this is very important for you.
You should increase your physical activity and go for brisk walk regularly.
Avoid saturated fat and take lot of fibers in your diet.
Avoid red meat and high fat milk products.
