Suggest Treatment For Elevated BP And Constant Pain Under Breast Area
Question: I have been on Lisinopril for elevated blood pressure following a lone afib event back in August. I am now experiencing chest pain daily under each breast and a feeling of tightness in my throat. I have seen an ER for this feeling twice in the last 3 months and was told it was a mild panic attack. I have read the reviews of Lisinopril online, and have noticed many people have had issue developing angidema with this medication. Could this medication be causing my now new symptoms? I am a 34 yr old healthy male.
Brief Answer:
Not angioedema
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
Relax, you definitely do not have angioneurotic edema. It produces an acute swelling usually in the mucus membranes of the mouth or the eyes. If it were to occur in the throat, you would choke on it.
The usual side effect from Lisinopril is an irritating, dry cough which usually occurs in the night. If you have that you may talk your doctor and request a change of medicine.
Best wishes,

Thank you. However, I still have the almost constant pain under my breast areas on both sides and the feeling of a semi swollen throat making breathing difficult at times. I have tried taking an Ativan that I was prescribed and also an Aleve for pain relief on another occasion. To no avail, I still have this continual pain. Who should I consult regarding this and what issues does it appear I am having?
Brief Answer:
Welcome
Detailed Answer:
It would be a good idea to consult an internist, who will investigate for the physical causes. He /she can also change your antihypertensive to another group medicine.
