Posted on Fri, 13 Mar 2015
Question: Hi my blood pressure has been elevated for about two days, even on my meds. Current reading is 130/91 - and I took an additional half pill prior. Scheduled for a blood test related to kidney function tomorrow morning but wondering if this is something I should go and get checked prior to that - like at an ER?

Brief Answer:
blood pressure can rise due to many causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.
There are many causes of rise in blood pressure like physical and mental stress, etc. Calming the mind will help in lowering your blood pressure. If you do not have symptoms associated with rise in blood pressure like headaches, giddiness, vomiting, etc. , you can wait for your appointment with your doctor as your current reading is not alarmingly high.
I would also suggest that in addition to the Kidney Function Test, you should also get your lipid and thyroid profile done.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.
