Question: My doctor has recommended a uterine ablation to control my simple hyperplasia w/o atypia.Is this something I should consider?

Brief Answer: Detailed below. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing to us. Treatment of endometrial hyperplasia depends on the type of hyperplasia, the age and associated symptoms. As you do not have atypical cells, you are in the safest position. You have two options. 1. You can go for progesterone therapy, but, please remember, it causes period-like bleeding. 2. You can go for hysterectomy, if progestin treatment is not working. If you choose to go for hormone treatment, you need to have regular follow up to check if any atypia has developed. If you do not wish this prolonged procedure and moreover as you have attained menopause, you can consider endometrial ablation. Hope your query has been answered.
