Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Lymph Nodes In The Neck

default
Posted on Fri, 19 Aug 2016
Question: My doctor found some abnormal lymphnods in the back of my neck yesterday. They cause me no pain and I honestly didn't even know they were there. I also have a sore tongue that was really white, but is now changing back to normal color. It feels like a cats tongue. He has sent me for a monospot, blood cell count, and a B12 check. Should I be concerned this is lymphoma?

Brief Answer:
This is too early to be labelled as lymphoma

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, let me clarify that based on the history you have shared, it is too early to he labeled as lymphoma. There is a variety of causes to have such lymph nodes and among them infectious causes come at the top.

Complete blood picture, detailed throat examination and ESR and CRP will probably guide further. Meanwhile report of monsoon will come and other viral illnesses which may causes such lymph nodes may also be considered. But the most appropriate and targeted test would be the lymph node biopsy, which will reveal the exact cause and most of the times either it is due to acute local infection which resolves spontaneously or due to chronic infections which can be treated easily.

Hope this will turn out to be a treatable cause. Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Regards.
