Question: Hello, My ENT discovered an enlarged thyroid, about the size of a small apricot. I am presently taking Armour 90 mg for underactive thyroid, prescribed by my primary care physician. I am scheduled for an ultrasound on Tuesday. I am experiencing neck pain, shoulder pain, extreme tiredness and am also being treated for depression. The Dr. did not provide very much information and any further information you can provide would be helpful.
Brief Answer:
Ultrasound is important for you
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Ultrasound thyroid is a very useful investigation for evaluating thyroid disorders.
By ultrasound we get to know the approximate size of the gland, any focal or diffuse change in appearance. There might be nodules which are picked up on ultrasound. The blood flow can also be v known.
With the above information your doctor will be in a better position to guide you through your medications and dosage.
You have taken a good combination of antibiotics at adequate doses and if your jae infection is treated then there is no reason to worry.
The tiredness and joint pains needs not be related to your thyroid if you are takimg your thyroid medication regularly.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
