Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Ventricles In An Infant
Question: I have a three month old baby girl. When I was pregnant, they saw ventricegomy with her, it remained stable through the rest of my pregnancy and through her NICU stay (she is a twin and they were born at 30 weeks. )
We have had follow up with a neurosurgeon, and he said he does not believe she has congential hydrocephalus and does not need a shunt. The rest of her brain appears normal. Is it likely that she will suffer delays from having enlarged ventricles if everything else is normal?

Usually when we see enlarged ventricles it doesn't automatically mean that the child has hydrocephalus.
Many times the normal brain in babies will show some enlargement of ventricles.
But if your baby is currently doing well and your neurosurgeon believed that it is unlikely to be hydrocephalus, honestly, I think that delays are unlikely
Buy having said that, you need to keep a close watch on developments and milestones.
Also monitor head circumference monthly. This will be able to identify problem early.
