Suggest Treatment For Hydrocephalus In A Child

Hi Doctor, my son had a VP shunt surgery when he was 29 days old(now he is 14 months old). doctors have examined his MRI scan and said there is a significant reduction in hydrocephalus. his milestones are 3 months delayed and seems active. Can you please tell me what are the complications and what precautions we need to take care? can that VP shunt removed over the period of time?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

We have to find out the underlying cause of the hydrocephalus like congenital anomalies.

In most cases definitive surgery is required to correct the definite problem. Generally the prognosis will be good

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
