Brief Answer:
Dry mouth and urinary frequency needs work up

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Dry mouth with mucous tongue could have multiple causes. Excess urination is either an infection or a prostate issue. Later needs urine routine exam, urodynamics, prostate check on rectal exam as well as sonogram.

As far as dry mouth is concerned, there are many possibilities need to be explored and clinical correlated. Commonest cause is decrease salivary production mostly due to medications adverse effect like the ones used to treat depression, nerve pain (neuropathy) and anxiety, as well as some antihistamines, decongestants, muscle relaxants and pain medications. Advancing age after 40, use of tobacco, too much use of alcohol and beverages, inadequate fluids intake , mouth breathing etc are some of the common causes of dry mouth.

You need to change any medication that may be causing dry mouth by discussing it with your doctor, use over-the-counter mouth rinses, artificial saliva or moisturizers to lubricate your mouth. Medicines like pilocarpine (Salagen) or cevimeline (Evoxac) can be prescribed to stimulate saliva production. Chlorhexidine rinses and fluoride trays for a few minutes at nights to prevent cavities in teeth may be advised as dry mouth causes such complications.

Talk to your doctor and let them decide what is best for you. Meanwhile, sip water frequently, keep intake to 3 litres in a day. USe sugar free gums and chew it. Over the counter saliva substitues like carboxymethylcellulose (kahr-bok-see-meth-ul-SEL-u-lohs) or hydroxyethyl cellulose (hi-drok-see-ETH-ul SEL-u-lohs), such as Biotene Oral Balance.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
