Suggest Treatment For Exfoliative Dermatitis On Lips
fluticasone cream and tacrolimus ointment
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com. I have read your query. I understand your concern.
Exfoliative dermatitis lips is very commonly found problem especially in those who have habit of lip licking. The skin of lips peel off in a day or two mainly in coming in contact with water. The skin regenerates in few days and subsequently again peel off.
In such cases, I advice my patients to keep the lips properly moisturised. Lip licking should be completely avoided.
I usually advice to apply fluticasone cream in the morning and tacrolimus 0.1 percent in night time. The condition may take 3-4 months for complete cure.
You may go for surgical intervention also. You should visit your doctor so that he can examine your child and give you prescription. You should rather try for medical management first before going fir surgery. You can share my opinion with your doctor. I am sure that he would agree with this.
I hope it helps. Take care.
But my son don't have lip leaking habits. What is the other causes of cheilitis?
My son(17 yrs) is currently using Top graf 1% and Pasitrex at night alternate day since last 10 days and using petrolium gelly continuously. Is it OK ?
Whether any type of cheilitis surgery advisable? If yes, any side effects or any problems in Surgery? And what is the time period of healing of surgery? Is it surgery is completely curable?
Waiting for your good advice.
you may continue the treatment
Detailed Answer:
Yes you may continue the treatment.
The results of surgery are variable and it is very rarely required in such cases. Most of the cases respond to treatment. It may take 4-6 weeks in complete healing. However there are chances of recurrence even after surgery. Lip licking is a contributory factor. It can occur without any valid cause in predisposed individuals.
Hope I am able to solve your query.
Take care.
