Abscess Under Crown, Difficulty In Swallowing, Tight Chest, Dry Throat. On Prescribed Amoxicillin. Allergic Reaction?

Hi, I have been prescribed 500mg Amoxicillin for an abscess I have under my crown, I took 3 capsules yesterday, however before I went to bed last night I suddenly started to have difficulty swallowing and a tight chest. No matter how much I drink my throat just keeps drying out immediately! Is this an allergic reaction, shall I ask for different antibiotics?

Hi,
It seems that you are allergic to this antibiotic.
Stop taking this medicine and consult your doctor to have another antibiotic.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Let me explain the few side effects of Amoxicillin as,
diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, exfoliative dermatitis , URTICARIA, HYPERSENSITIVITY vasculitis, dizziness hyper activity.
As you mentioned that after intake of 3 capsule you develops chest tightness and difficulty in swallowing i.e. delayed hyper sensitivity reaction ( allergic reaction ) of amoxicillin.
Consult your treating physician and get another antibiotics.
